The plastic seams don't fit as snugly to the aluminum container, nor does the plastic lid make an airtight seal on the top (no matter how tight I try to twist it) & so I end up with tea soaking the insides of my bag about 2 out of 5 times a week. Nissan now makes its mugs in China instead of Japan (like my old model). I guess it's the price one pays for being wasteful). I bought this because I love tea & had great success with a Nissan (large) coffee mug (screw top model). Unfortunately this one is not leak-proof like my older coffee mug & tea spills in my bag all the time. I wish I had never thrown out my old (made in Japan) model (which got gross one time & so I threw it out instead of cleaning thoroughly.
I loved this mug but it began to leak about a month after I bought it. A month and a half ago I paid $10.00 to send it to Thermos and have not heard anything back from them.
I did not realize this when I purchase it. atleast it cleans easily. So if you want to remove it and then drink tea, you will NOT be able to close/seal the top unless you have the "sipping lid" with you to replace the strainer. First Not large enough (knew this ahead of time). sorta disappointed.
There are a few problems. it is a piece that is SEPERATE from the strainer. The strainer is not simply something that can easily be removed, it IS part of the lid. Oh well. Okay, so its a great mug.
Second, if you are someone who likes to brew tea for the correct ammount of time (few minutes), and not just leave the leaves sitting in there, you must carry around a SEPERATE lid for drinking. Really not that conveneint.
All the product details/perks have been mentioned in previous reviews so I'll not repeat them here but it should be mentioned that my thermos has endured much punishment from the daily use it's received over the last five years. I've had mine for about five years. Many scuffs, dings and dents but it works as well as the day I bought it.
It is a great buy. It keeps the tea warm for hours on end. I throw the thermos in my bag, and it never leaks. it's easy to clean.I definitely recommend this thermos to everyone. I LOVE this thermos. The variety of tops that come with it make it very convenient to brew tea and then go. And.
